Dan Conaway, Esq.
"The key with defending all international criminal cases is attacking the case early, preferably before any formal charges are filed against the client,” explains Conaway. "Whenever a person is being investigated or is arrested for any international crime, the most important step is to develop their defense immediately. Many times, the criminal investigation can be halted in the early stages, before the client is formerly accused. These are some of the biggest victories for a criminal trial lawyer; getting the charges dismissed before there ever is a trial." Mr. Conaway is an adjunct professor for Emory University School of Law's Kessler-Eidsen Institute for Trial Advocacy, where he instructs law students in the art of case preparation and trial advocacy. Mr. Conaway also teaches ethics to first year Emory Law students through a three day round table discussion group comprised of practicing attorneys, first year law students, and Emory Law School faculty. Mr. Conaway is a committee member of the International Bar Association’s Criminal Law Section, and a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the American Trial Lawyers Association. As a former prosecutor, he is a member of the International Association of Prosecutors. He is also a licensed member of the American, New York, and Georgia Bar Associations. Through these organizations he has helped shape public opinion and legislative policy concerning domestic and international criminal law. Mr. Conaway is also the author of many articles on criminal law and he enjoys doing public speaking engagements concerning cutting edge criminal law issues. In the fall of 2005, at the International Bar Association’s annual seminar held in Prague, he spoke as a panel member concerning issues of international criminal law and white collar crime. Mr. Conaway is a criminal law-expert commentator on COURT–TV, and has also appeared as a legal commentator on numerous national and local television news programs including CNN's Burden of Proof.
